J. F. GREENLAND PASSED AWAY LAST NIGHT

Death came suddenly at home of sister, Mrs. Grace GOW

James Francis GREENLAND, 71, died suddenly at 10:45 p.m. last evening, Dec. 7 at the home of his sister, Mrs. Grace GOW, 309 E. Kirkwood street.

Mr. GREENLAND was born in Batavia, June 27, 1868. He was a retired telegraph operator, retiring after 50 years of service.

In the late 80’s he was for many years an operator and station agent in Beckwith. He also was an operator at Eldon. He came to Fairfield from Eldon in September. He had been in poor health the past four years.

Mr. GREENLAND is survived by his wife Leah; one daughter Miss Alice Louise GREENLAND at home; three sisters, Mrs. Grace GOW, Fairfield; Mrs. Ed MADDON, Lennox; Mrs. Louise MOOREHEAD, Denver, Colo.; one brother, Walter, of Berthoud, Colo.

Four sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.

Services will be held on Monday afternoon, Dec. 11 at 2:00 o’clock (sic) from the Hoskins funeral home with Dr. M. A. Gable in charge.
