MRS. C. B. DAVIS DIES SUDDENLY

Former Helen JENKS Dies Of Heart Disease In Indiana.

Mrs. Charles B. DAVIS, the former Helen JENKS daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John JENKS, four miles east of Fairfield, died suddenly of a heart attack in Albany, Ind. while enroute to Fairfield to visit her parents, from their home in Ohio.

She was driving through with her husband and two daughters, and her sister-in-law. She was stricken while riding in the car and died abiut (sic – about) 11 o’clock Sunday evening, according to message the family received here.

Sam JENKS, her brother of Chicago was at the home of his parents when the word of her death was received.

JENKS’ Daughter Dies Following Collision Scare

Mrs. Charles B. DAVIS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John JENKS of near Fairfield died in an unusual manner, as is indicated in an article reprinted from the Goldsboro, (N. C.) New Argus, which is as follows:

“Mrs. DAVIS died suddenly at 8 oclock Sunday night from a heart attack caused by shock when she barely missed a head-on collision while she was driving on the highway 12 miles out of New Albany, Indiana. She died instantly, and the car started down a small embankment by the side of the road as her grasp on the wheel relaxed. Her sister-in-law, Mrs. W. W. DAVIS, Raleigh, N. Carolina, caught the wheel and prevented an accident. As soon as the car was stopped, the other occupants found that Mrs. DAVIS was dead. She was rushed to a hospital where the physician said that death was caused by the shock.

“On the rear seat of the car were her husband, Charles B. DAVIS of Goldsboro, their two small daughters, and Mr. DAVIS’ sister, Miss Olivia DAVIS of Greensboro, N. C. They were enroute to Fairfield, Iowa to visit Mrs. DAVIS’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. JENKS, after which they had planned to go to the World’s Fair at Chicago.

“Mrs. DAVIS had been employed by the local welfare department for over a year. Previous to that time she taught in the Pikeville and Rosewood schools.”

“The funeral services for Mrs. DAVIS was held (sic) in Pint Forest Methodist church three miles west of Goldsboro at 4 oclock Thursday afternoon by Rev. Robert E. Brown, a former pastor of the deceased, assisted by Rev. N. C. Yearby. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Helen Lee JENKS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John S. JENKS, was born near Fairfield, Iowa, June 7, 1900, and passed away at 8 oclock Sunday evening, August 19, 1934, near New Albany, Ind., while on her way from her home in Goldsboro, N. C. to visit her parents in Iowa. She graduated from the Fairfield High school and completed the junior year in Parsons college; also took some special work in home economics in the University of Chicago. On April 10, 1926 she was united in marriage with Charles B. DAVIS of Goldsboro, N.C. Two children were born of this union: Gloria Lee and Paula Joyce. Besides these small daughters she leaves her husband, her parents, and two brothers, Samuel M. JENKS of Chicago, Ill., and Paul L. JENKS of Fairfield.
