Helen A. JOHNSON

Helen A. JOHNSON, 88, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Fairfield, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at Manor Care in Cedar Rapids.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Fairfield. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1570 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapds 52402.

Mrs. JOHNSON was born Oct. 31, 1922, in rural Cantril, the daughter of Benjamin and Mary Catherine McCALLISTER. She married Harold D. JOHNSON June 15, 1941, in Fairfield. He died May 31, 2007.

Mrs. JOHNSON was a volunteer for Fairfield Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Sac and Fox Rock Club. She enjoyed sending recipes and short stories to magazines.

Survivors include two daughters, Sylvia McGUIRE of Cedar Rapids and Janel DOLEZAL and husband Roy of West Des Moines; two sons, Chris JOHNSON and wife Carol and Jan JOHNSON and wife Sharon, both of Fairfield; one sister, Wynifred HINING of Ames; two brothers, Robert McCALLISTER of Boulevard, Calif., and William McCALLISTER of Omaha, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary HAGEDORN; one brother, Richard McCALLISTER; and one great-grandson.
