Arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham.

Phyllis Jean CANADAY, age 78, formerly of Birmingham died Tuesday, January 25, 2011 in Ottumwa.
Phyllis WILKINSON CANADAY was born July 31, 1932 in Linn County, Iowa to James Russell WILKINSON and Thelma WINSELL WILKINSON.
She graduated from Selma High School and Iowa Wesleyan College. She taught school in the rural schools in Jefferson and Van Buren Counties, Cantril Independent School, Birmingham Independent School and Van Buren Community School, retiring after 43 years in the classroom. She was a long time member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
She was married to Carroll CANADAY on May 29, 1952 at Birmingham. They lived in Libertyville community, near Batavia, Iowa and for over 50 years southwest of Birmingham.
She was a member of the Birmingham United Methodist Church. After her move to Ottumwa, following her husband's death, she attended the Bladensburg Christian Church.
Surviving are daughters: Cathy (John) TRECEK of Omaha, NE; Connie (Rex) CANADAY HOWARD of Downers Grove, IL; and Cindy (Greg) MEINERS of Ottumwa, IA; twelve grandchildren: Timothy VIDAS, Michael VIDAS, Mary TRECEK, Vickie CANADAY HOWARD, Becky TRECEK, arrie TRECEK, Debbie TRECEK, Abbey CANADAY HOWARD, Alex MEINERS, Haley MEINERS, Caleb MEINERS and Lily Jean MEINERS; and siblings W.W. WILKINSON, Jackie LONGENECKER, Ruth BROWN, Charles WILKINSON, Karen SMITH and Rita FRETTE.
She is preceded in death by her husband on May 1, 2003, her parents and son-in-law, Michael VIDAS.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham with Reverend Larry Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 until 6:30 P.M. at the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham.
Memorials may be made to the Mc Creery Cancer Center in Ottumwa and mailed to the family at 2865 Oak Meadow Drive, Ottumwa, Iowa 52501.
Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham.
