Joyce PARSONS, 73, of Birmingham, died today, Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham.

Joyce Irene PARSONS, 73, formerly of Birmingham, died Friday morning, Jan. 21, 2011, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Birmingham United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Peg Ellingson and the Rev. Larry Smith officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham.

Family visitation will be from 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham.

Memorials have been established to Birmingham United Methodist Church and Birmingham Homecoming Association.

Mrs. PARSONS was born Sept. 2, 1937, in Richland, the daughter of Lewis and Margaret SPANIER KREWSON. She married James Irvin PARSONS May 12, 1957, at First Christian Church in Fairfield. He died April 23, 2005,

Mrs. PARSONS grew up in Richland and Fairfield and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1955. She had been a resident of Birmingham all of her adult life. She worked as a clerk at Henderson's Coast to Coast Store in Fairfield.

Mrs. PARSONS was a member of Birmingham United Methodist Church, Rebecca Circle and Red Hat Society.

She enjoyed gardening, stitching, playing cards and following sporting events.

Survivors include one daughter, Susan GRIFFIN and husband Larry of Fairfield; one son, Alan PARSONS and wife Sheila of Winfield; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Leo KREWSON of Albany, Ore.; and one sister, Betty HOLDER of Vaughn, Wash.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Joanna Ruth MARTIN; and one brother, Junior Keith KREWSON.

Joyce Irene PARSONS, age 73 formerly of Birmingham died Friday morning, January 21, 2011 at the Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

Born September 2, 1937 at Richland. She was the daughter of Lewis and Margaret SPANIER KREWSON.

Joyce grew up in Richland and Fairfield, graduating from Fairfield High School in 1955. She had been a resident of Birmingham all of her adult life.

Joyce married James Irvin PARSONS on May 12, 1957 at the First Christian Church in Fairfield.

She worked as a clerk at Henderson's Coast to Coast Store in Fairfield. Joyce was a member of the Birmingham United Methodist Church, Rebecca Circle and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed gardening, stitchery, playing cards and following sporting events.

Deceased family members include her husband Jim on April 23, 2005, her parents, 1 sister Joanna Ruth MARTIN and one brother Junior Keith KREWSON.

Surviving family members are her daughter Susan (Larry) GRIFFIN of Fairfield, her son Alan (Sheila) PARSONS of Winfield, 6 grandchildren: Christopher GRIFFIN, Robyn GRIFFIN, Travis (Bridget) GRIFFIN, Jamie (Howard) SNOOK, Larry (Dawn) GRIFFIN Jr. and Matthew GRIFFIN; 4 great grandchildren Savannah GRIFFIN, Chance GRIFFIN, Miley GRIFFIN and Ashlyn SNOOK. 1 brother Leo KREWSON of Albany, Oregon and 1 sister Betty HOLDER of Vaughn, Washington plus her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jeralee and Jim LARSON.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at the Birmingham United Methodist Church with Pastor Peg Ellingson and Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon from 5:00 until 6:30 P.M. at the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham.

Memorials have been established to the Birmingham United Methodist Church or the Birmingham Homecoming Association.

Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham.
