Dr. Kenneth G. COOK, 63, Fairfield physician and surgeon for the past 36 years, died suddenly Saturday night while at work at the Jefferson County hospital.
Dr. COOK collapsed and died of a heart attack in the hospital delivery room about 7:30 p.m. He had delivered a son born to Mrs. Wallace Brokken shortly before he was stricken.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran church in charge of the Rev. Hoyt Whitebread. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
The body will be taken from the Raymond Funeral home to the church Tuesday at 10:45 a.m. The casket will not be open at the church. Friends may call at the funeral home until 10:30 a.m.
Dr. COOK, who resided at 406 E. Burlington, was the senior member of the Jefferson County Medical Society in point of service. He began his practice here on August 15, 1929.
Dr. COOK was born July 27, 1901 at Lena, Ill., the son of George and Minnie SCHRAMM COOK. He graduated from Lena high school in 1919 and received his bachelor of arts degree at Carthage college, Carthage, Ill. in 1923.
He also received degrees from the University of Illinois and Illinois Medical college before his graduation from Rush Medical college, Chicago, Ill. He served as a resident physician at Illinois Central hospital in Chicago before coming to Fairfield in 1929.
Dr. COOK was married to Irene BACHMAN Feb. 22, 1929. Surviving are his wife; one son, Thomas COOK, a graduate student at the University of Iowa; and one brother, Robert COOK, Warren, Ill.
Dr. COOK had been a Jefferson county farm owner since 1935. In recent years he raised and harvested Christmas trees on his farm six miles northeast of Fairfield.
Dr. COOK was a member of the First Lutheran church. He was also affiliated with the Masonic lodge, the Lions club, Elks club, Fairfield Golf and Country club and Walton club. He was also a director of the Iowa State Bank and Trust Co.
Dr. COOK was also active in several professional organizations, including the Jefferson County Medical Society, the Iowa State Medical Society and the American Medical Assn.

A special memorial service for the late Dr. K. G. COOK was held Tuesday night at the weekly meeting of the Fairfield Lions club. The service was conducted by the Rev. Hoyt Whitebread, pastor of the First Lutheran church.
Two films on eye protection were shown during the program. The films were produced by the National Society for the Prevention of Blindness and distributed by the American Legion.
The films stressed accidents which cause blindness and methods of accident prevention.
