Illness Fatal To Mrs. Etta HORTON

Death came last night to Mrs. Etta May HORTON, former resident of the Parsonsville community east of Fairfield, who passed away at Memorial hospital in Mt. Pleasant. Her death came at 11:57 p.m.

For the past seven years she had made her home at the DeVol nursing home in Mt. Pleasant. She had been bedfast for three years and seriously ill since Dec. 24.

Last rites will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Hoskins Funeral home with the Rev. E. A. Mathews of Mt. Pleasant in charge. He will be assisted by the Rev. H.T. Rasche, Fairfield. Burial will be in Union cemetery located south of Parsonsville.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friday evening.

Mrs. Etta HORTON, 82, was born Oct. 25, 1874, in Lockridge township, the daughter of the late Isaac and Sarah LOGSDON MAXWELL. She spent here (sic. her) entire life in the Parsonsville and Glendale community.

She was married to George HORTON on Dec. 25, 1894, at the home of her parents. He passed away Oct. 18, 1954. Mrs. HORTON was a member of the Parsonsville Methodist church.

Mrs. HORTON is survived by a son, Clarence L. HORTON, Des Moines; and a daughter, Mrs. Gladys MILLER, Burlington; seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two daughters, one brother and one sister.
