Widely known farmer succumbs following prolonged illness
Vincent KASKA, 63, passed away this morning at the University Hospital in Iowa City, where he had been a patient since March 11. Mr. KASKA had been in poor health for the past six months, and had undergone treatment both at Excelsior Springs and at the Jefferson County Hospital. He was taken from his home east of the city to Iowa City last Tuesday.
No announcement has been made as yet concerning funeral arrangements. The body will be brought to the Hoskins Funeral Home.
Mr. KASKA has been a resident of the county for most of his life, and has been engaged in farming for many years. For at least the past 30 years he has farmed two miles east of the city. His wife was the former Harriett KURTZ of Pleasant Plain. He was active in community affairs and a member of the St. Mary's Catholic church of this city.
Surviving are his wife, and six children, Eugene and Harold of Fairfield, Miss Gertrude of Washington, D. C. Maurice in San Diego, Calif, Earl at Fort Bliss, Texas and Raymond at home. Surviving also are two sisters and three brothers, Miss Margaret, Miss May, Lewis and Frank, all of East Pleasant Plain, and John of near Batavia.
