Ida Mae SNYDER

Ida Mae SNYDER, 88, of Des Moines, formerly of Bonaparte, died at 9:55 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. The body has been cremated.

Memorials to Bonaparte Cemetery may be mailed to Harold D. Carter, 711 Dodge St., Keosauqua 52565.

Arrangements are in the care of Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Ms. SNYDER was born May 12, 1912, in Bonaparte, the daughter of Glenn and Anna HOUSER DAVIS. she married E. S. SNYDER, and they divorced.

Ms. SNYDER grew up in Bonaparte and graduated from Bonaparte High School in 1939. She attended Iowa State Teachers College and earned a bachelor of arts degree from Colorado State College in 1955 and a master's degree in education from National College in Evanston, Ill., in 1967. Ms. SNYDER taught four years at rural Van Buren County schools and 16 years at elementary schools in Iowa, Illinois and Colorado. In 1961, she joined Ginn & Co. in Columbus, Ohio, where she was a language arts specialist. She retired in 1988 and moved to Des Moines in 1990.

Ms. SNYDER was a member of American Business Women Association, Compass Club of Des Moines and Des Moines Art Center Association.

Survivors include one sister, Mabel CARTER of Keosauqua.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Pearl CHAMBERS.

Ida Mae SNYDER

Ida Mae SNYDER, 88, of Des Moines, formerly of Bonaparte, died at 9:55 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bonaparte Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating.

A lunch for family and friends will follow the Saturday service at Bonaparte Opera House.

Memorials to Bonaparte Cemetery may be brought to the service or may be mailed to the family at 711 Dodge St., Keosauqua 52565.

Arrangements are in the care of Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.
