Shirley Mae NELSON

Shirley Mae NELSON, 73, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren in Keosauqua.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Stephen C. Page officiating. The casket will be closed. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:15-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Mrs. NELSON's family. Cards and memorials may be sent to 500 E. Pierce Ave., Fairfield 52556.

Mrs. NELSON was born Oct. 10, 1937, in Martinsburg, the daughter of Roy and Betty DAVIS BLACK. She married Robert NELSON June 9, 1962, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield.

Mrs. NELSON was affiliated with the Eagles Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars ladies' auxiliary. She was a former member of St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include her husband; two children: Roy NELSON and wife Rhonda of Chariton and Betty HOWARD and husband Jeremy of Libertyville; six grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
