FOREMAN, Edith 'Ruth' Ann -- Edith "Ruth" Ann FOREMAN, 65, of Batavia, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at home.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. James Wotherspoon officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery in Batavia.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to Hospice (Wapello County) or McCreery Cancer Center in Ottumwa. Memorials and cards may be sent to Heath Foreman, 1174 U.S. Highway 34, Batavia 52533.

Mrs. FOREMAN was born Jan. 15, 1945, in Libertyville, the daughter of Stephen Wesley and Edith V. RUTHERFORD BERNDT. She married Charles Wayne FOREMAN Sept. 15, 1964, at Peoples Church in Batavia. He died Sept. 15, 1985.

Mrs. FOREMAN was a lifelong member of Batavia. She served as city clerk in Batavia for several years, as well as in Libertyville. She was a farmwife and homemaker most of her life.

Mrs. FOREMAN was a member of the Baptist Church, Tri T of Batavia and Jefferson County Pork Producers, for which she served on the board of directors.

Mrs. FOREMAN enjoyed working as city clerk and having people of the community visit. She also enjoyed quilts and time spent with friends.

Survivors include one son, Heath FOREMAN of Batavia; and two siblings, Wayne Andrew BERNDT of Batavia and Lois Irene GREINER of Batavia.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
