GREENE, Josephine Katherine -- Josephine Katherine MULLIKIN GREENE, 94, of Wayland, died at 11:05 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010, at Parkview Home in Wayland.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brighton United Church, with the Rev. Sallie Graves and the Rev. Dale Mullikin officiating. The body has been cremated. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials to Hospice Compassus, Friends of Lake Darling or a charity of the donor's choice may be left at the church or may be mailed to the family at P.O. Box 272, Brighton 52540.

Arrangements are in the care of Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

Mrs. GREENE was born Jan. 29, 1916, near Brighton, the daughter of Clarence Lon and Clara Susanne PALM BROWN. She married Glen MULLIKIN Feb. 14, 1934, in Fairfield. He preceded her in death in 1974. She married Wesley GREENE in 1987, and he also preceded her in death.

Mrs. GREENE grew up in the Brighton area and attended Blackhawk Country School. She lived in the Brighton, Douds and Wayland communities. She was a farm wife and homemaker.

Mrs. GREENE was a 50-year member in Order of the Eastern Star, Pythian Sisters and Rebekah Lodge.

Mrs. GREENE enjoyed gardening, baking and quilting. She began quilting at age 18 and has made hundreds of quilts for her family and friends. In later years, she hand-pieced material squares and made lap robes.

Survivors include two sons: Glen MULLIKIN and wife Betty of North Liberty and Donald MULLIKIN and wife Janis of Siloam Springs, Ark.; three daughters: Margaret PHILIPS and husband Marvin of Douds, Rose JAYNES and husband Steve of Brighton and Debra HOLDEN and husband Jeffery of Overland Park, Kan.; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and four brothers: Doyle BROWN of Washington, Kenneth BROWN of New London, Clarence BROWN of Washington and Dale BROWN of Jackson, Mo.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Virginia CARRIS and Leila MULLIKIN; and one brother, Leland BROWN.
