HEART ATTACK PROVES FATAL

John William BARNETT, 37, Fairfield factory employee and veteran of World War II, died suddenly at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines early this morning. His death came at 7:15 a.m.

Mr. BARNETT was taken to the hospital in Des Moines yesterday afternoon suffering from a heart ailment. He had suffered a previous attack last September. Word from Des Moines at 7 a.m. today described his condition as improved, but a half hour later word was received that he had died suddenly.

Last rites will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with Rev. S.P. Williamson in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

John William BARNETT was born December 31, 1910, in Libertyville, the daughter (sic. son) of Francis and Myrtle BRERETON BARNETT. He was educated in the Fairfield public schools, and served in the U.S. navy during the war.

He entered service in April, 1942, and received his training at Faragut. He served overseas from July, 1942 to November, 1945. He was separated from service November 3, 1945. At the time of his death he was employed at the Fairfield Glove company.

Mr. BARNETT was united in marriage May 28, 1937, at Peru, Illinois, to Pauline HERSHEY, who survives.

Besides his wife and mother, Mr. BARNETT is survived by two sisters, Jessie BARNETT and Mrs. Robert JOHNSON, one niece and one nephew, all of Fairfield.

VFW Auxiliary To Attend BARNETT Rites

The V.F.W. auxiliary will meet Monday at 1:45 p.m. in front of Bradshaw's to attend, en masse, last rites for John BARNETT. Members are asked to wear caps and uniforms.
