DEATH OF WM. C. MORRISON.
Editors Ledger :-- William C. MORRISON died in Des Moines tp., September 27th. He was born in Lycomb (sic - Lycoming?) county, Penn., March 28, 1812. He had been a constant sufferer for 10 years, and had been confined to his bed for nearly three months. He was patient through his illness, and said on the morning of his death that it would not be long until his sufferings would end and that he would be glad when he was at rest. Mr. MORRISON was married to Miss Charlottie MARSH, in Hamilton county, Ohio, June 27th, 1833, his wife dying April 14th, 1881. They came to Iowa in 1840, entering 80 acres of land on which they lived until death separated them. Since his wife's death Mr. MORRISON had made his home with his youngest son, John. Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. MORRISON, nine of whom are now living -- Mrs. Mary FISHER, Davis County, Mo.; Mrs. Ida BEACH, Keokuk county; Mrs. Isabelle BISHOP, Mrs. Charlottie RATCLIFF, William and Eugene MORRISON, Van Buren county, Mrs. Hattie ADAMS, Mrs. Ella ASHMEAD and John MORRISON in this county. All the children were present at the funeral except Mrs. FISHER and Mrs. BEACH, and they had seen their father in his last illness. Mr. MORRISON was a good neighbor, a kind and affectionate father. He will be missed by all. The remains were interred in Winsell Chapel cemetery, and a great many old neighbors paid the last sad respects to their dead friend.
Mrs. Ella ASHMEAD.
