Mrs. Ellen JOHNSON, 82, long-time resident of Jefferson County, passed away at 9:15 a.m. today at the Jefferson County Hospital. She had been in failing health the past year.
Private funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Wilson Hyde officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Ellen Louise JOHNSON was born Sept. 27, 1889, in Lacon, Ill., daughter of August and Anna LINDGREN COLESON. She was reared and educated in Fairfield and attended Parsons College. She taught in Jefferson County schools for a number of years.
She was married to Arthur F. JOHNSON, June 24, 1916, in Kansas City. He died in 1954. They lived on a farm east of Fairfield, and in later years her home was at 608 E. Adams. Mrs. JOHNSON was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors included one son, Dean JOHNSON, Fairfield; two grandchildren; two sisters, Harriet (sic. a/k/a Harriett) COLESON, and Mrs. Raymond ZEIGLER, both of Fairfield; also two brothers, Emmett COLESON, Bloomington, Minn., and Bernard COLESON, Yucaipa, Calif.; along with nieces and nephews.
