"Obituary. Avis Smith Coffin, daughter of Job and Marjorie Smith, born June 20 1848 in Jefferson County near Pleasant Plain, died Feb 22 1920 aged 71-8-2; lived in Jefferson County and Henry County all her life; married Henry Coffin Sept 23 1872; seven children, four sons and three daughters, one of whom, an infant daughter Mary, preceded the mother in death. Leaves husband, children: W. A. Coffin, Spirit Lake, Iowa; Elmer and Everett Coffin of Pleasant Plain; John H. Coffin and Mrs. Glen Elmore of Fairfield; Mrs. Henry Arndt of Emporia, Kan., one sister, five brothers and 23 grandchildren. Pleasant Plain Cemetery."
