"Henry Coffin, born Indiana Oct 8 1846 and came west with his parents ten years later. . . . .married Sept 23 1872 Miss Avis Smith who died Feb 22 1920. Seven children, five survive: Elmer and Everett Coffin of Veo, John of Fairfield, Mrs. Elsie Elmore of Fairfield, and Mrs. Henry Arndt of Emporia, Kan. A son, W. A. Coffin was killed in an auto accident near Spirit Lake two years ago and a daughter Mary died in infancy. A brother at Adel and a sister Mrs. Phoebe Jones of Veo also survive."
