James FRAKES Dies At Davenport Home

James FRAKES, Fairfield Route 4, died at 5 a.m. today at the home of a daughter in Davenport (note: in Scott Co., IA).

FRAKES had been in failing health for some time. He had made his home in Davenport since Sept. 16.

The body has been returned to the Hoskins Funeral home. Last rites are pending.

FRAKES Funeral To Be Saturday

James FRAKES, long-time resident of Jefferson county, passed away yesterday at Mercy hospital in Davenport where he had been a patient since Sept. 27. He had been ill for the past two years.

Last rites will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with the Rev. R. A. Eagle in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

James FRAKES, 87, was born Sept. 6, 1870 in Jefferson county, the son of the late Abram and Amanda SIMPSON FRAKES. He spen (sic) practically his entire life in Jefferson county. His home address was Amanda SIMPSON FRAKES. He spent rural route 4. (sic)

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Anna ROUSH, Davenport, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

JAMES FRAKES

James FRAKES, 87, who made his home with his sister, Mrs. Anna ROUSH, at 3004 Telegraph Rd., Davenport, died at 5 a.m. Tuesday in Mercy Hospital after an extended illness.

He was born Sept. 6, 1870, in Pleasant Plain, Iowa, and lived in Fairfield most of his life. He had lived in Davenport for the last three months.

Surviving is his sister, Mrs. ROUSH.

The body was taken to the Runge Mortuary and will be sent to the Hoskins Funeral Home in Fairfield for services. Burial wil be in the Evergreen Cemetery there.

RKT note: The headstone engraved death year is 1958. Frakes family group sheet information had offered December 14, 1957 as the death date. Thanks to a FindAGrave contributor who found the published obituary it appears that the correct death date was Tuesday, December 10, 1957.

Note: The sister named in the obituary was Anna Frakes KUNCE ROUSH. She is buried in the same plot as James Frakes, with her first husband Edward C KUNCE.
