STAGNER, Franklin Dean -- Franklin Dean STAGNER, 81, of Mount Pleasant, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at home.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Deb Savage officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Iowa Hospice.

Mr. STAGNER was born Jan. 24, 1929, in New Philadelphia, Ohio, the son of Cleo and Mildred REID STAGNER. He married Helen L. HUMPHREY May 15, 1946, in Iowa City.

Mr. STAGNER farmed and worked at Pork Technologies, Garretson and Cargill Seed Corn.

He was a member of Lockridge Rough Riders, Moose Lodge of Mount Pleasant, Swinging S Square Dance Club and Eagles Club in Burlington. He had been a 4-H leader.

Mr. STAGNER enjoyed camping, horseback riding, square dancing and spending time with his family.

Survivors include three children: Deb SAMMONS and husband Harold of Mount Pleasant, Kathy GLATTFELDER and husband Terry of Argyle and Lisa BARTON and husband Todd of Mount Pleasant; nine grandchildren; one stepgrandson; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister: Joyce CHRISTIAN of Sibley, Mo.; and one daughter-in-law: Marlene STAGNER of Arkansas; and his dear friend: Lola Douglas of Lockridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Steve; two daughters; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; and one brother: Donald.
