BEER, Stanley A. -- Stanley A. BEER, 91, of Keosauqua, died at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Keosauqua United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Douglas Harding officiating. Burial will be in Center Chapel Cemetery in rural Keosauqua.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, where the family will be present from 6-7:30 p.m.

Memorials to Keosauqua United Methodist Church or Village Terrace assisted living may be left at the funeral home or church or may be mailed to the family at P.O. Box 426, Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. BEER was born Nov. 21, 1919, in Center Chapel, the son of Willis G. and Pearl RANKIN BEER. He married Ethel Louise WILSON BLACKBURN Jan. 22, 1944, in Ottumwa. She died March 2, 2004.

Mr. BEER graduated from Keosauqua High School and farmed in the Keosauqua area. For many years, he operated Beer's TV, Appliance and Furniture store in Keosauqua. He retired in 1982.

Mr. BEER was a member of Keosauqua United Methodist Church, where he served in numerous offices and as an usher. He was a charter member of Keosauqua Lions Club, through which he received the Warren Coleman award for outstanding service. He was named Keosauqua's Citizen of the Year in 1984. He volunteered for various causes and was recognized by the Area 15 Agency on Aging for his service in 1983.

Survivors include one daughter, Karla WINSLOW and husband Gary of Keosauqua; one son, William BLACKBURN and wife Janice of Keosauqua; four grandsons; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Craig BEER of Ames; and one sister, Beryl LOEFFLER of Saginaw, Texas.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Keith BEER.
