Rita L. DAY

Rita L. DAY, 91, of Davenport, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Davenport. Burial will take place in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, EWTN or Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Mrs. DAY was born July 14, 1919, at her parent's farm in East Pleasant Plain, the daughter of Frank and Bertha FRITZ PACHA. She married Harold DAY July 31, 1937. He died in 1987.

At the age of 18, Mrs. DAY moved to Davenport to attend business school. She worked for Palmer College of Chiropractic, J.I. Case Company and Bendix Aviation, before retiring from Fireman's Fund Insurance Company. After the death of her husband, she made several trips to Medjugorje, Bosnia-Herzegovina, in honor of the Blessed Mother.

Until she could no longer drive, she attended Mass on a daily basis.

Mrs. DAY enjoyed spending time with family.

Survivors include three children, Karon DeCOCK-HUSTED and husband Charles, Jim DAY and wife Mary and Ronald DAY and wife Patrice; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Kathleen VASEN; and one brother, Gene PACHA.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Jacqueline MECUM; two sons-in-law, Donald MECUM and Donald DeCOCK; one sister, Lucille DAY; and two brothers, James PACHA and Gerald PACHA.
