TURNER Rites Today

Memorial services for Dr. James H. TURNER, 41, were held at 2 p.m. today at the First United Presbyterian Church with Dr. John R. Dilley officiating.

Private interment services were held this morning in Evergreen Cemetery.

Dr. TURNER, 1104 South D St., was killed about 10 a.m. Saturday when the car he was driving was struck by a west-bound Burlington Northern freight train at the Third Street crossing.

TURNER was born Sept. 2, 1932 at Odebolt, the son of Irving and Mary ROBERTS TURNER. He received a bachelor of science degree at Iowa State University in 1954 and graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1957.

He joined the Fairfield Clinic here in 1958 after serving his internship at Mercy Hospital in San Diego, Calif.

TURNER was married to Ardella WATSON July 17, 1954. Surviving are his widow and four daughters: Cindi, Karen, Susan and Julie, all at home. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Irving TURNER, Odebolt; and a brother, Robert TURNER, Lincoln, Neb.

TURNER was an elder of the First United Presbyterian Church and a member of the Fairfield Lions Club. He was a past president of the Jefferson County Medical Society and past head of the Jefferson County Hospital Staff.

He was also a member of the Iowa State Medical Society and the American Medical Association and a diplomat of the American Family Practice. He was preceded in death by his father.

A memorial fund has been established at the Jefferson County Hospital.
