MINEART, Leroy F. -- Leroy F. MINEART, 91, of Brighton, died at 4:15 a.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at Halcyon House in Washington.

A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Saints Joseph and Cabrini Church in East Pleasant Plain, with the Rev. Charles J. Fladung officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain.

Open visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Friday at the church, with the family present from 5-8 p.m. and Prayers For A Christian Wake at 7 p.m.

Memorials to St. Joseph Cemetery may be left at the church or may be mailed to the family at 1022 Spruce Ave., Brighton 52540.

Arrangements are in the care of Gould Funeral Home of Brighton.

Mr. MINEART was born Dec. 10, 1918, in Brighton, the son of Henry and Grace LAMANSKY MINEART. He married Kathryn WEHR July 30, 1941, at St. Joseph Church in East Pleasant Plain.

Mr. MINEART grew up in Brighton and graduated from Brighton High School in 1938. Although Mr. MINEART's leg was run over by a tractor when he was a child, he was able to serve as captain of the high school track, basketball and football teams and set a record in the Kewash Conference Mile Run that stood until 1969. He farmed for more than 60 years and worked at Louden Manufacturing Co. in Fairfield for 27 years, retiring in 1982.

Mr. MINEART was a lifelong member of Saints Joseph and Cabrini Church. He was a member of Washington Knights of Columbus and Brighton Lions Club. He also had been a Brighton school board member for 20 years and had served as board president.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Rosemary PACHA and husband Gerald of Brighton, Susan SEGLIE and husband Ron of Pittsburg, Kan., and Christine TURNIPSEED and husband Scott of Moline, Ill.; three sons, Edward MINEART and wife Amy of Muscatine, Paul MINEART and wife Carol of Peyson, Ariz., and Mike MINEART and wife Connie of Walford; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, David MINEART of Norwalk.
