BLACKBURN, Doris -- Doris M. BLACKBURN, 90, of Goreville, Ill., formerly of Selma, died Friday morning, Oct. 29, 2010, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Ill.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds.

BLACKBURN, Doris Marie RITZ -- Doris Marie RITZ BLACKBURN, 90, formerly of Selma, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale in Carbondale, Ill.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. David Albert and the Rev. Ann Donat officiating. Burial will follow at Iowaville Cemetery in Selma. A luncheon will follow in the Selma United Methodist Church fellowship hall in Selma.

Visitation began at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6-7:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Selma United Methodist Church and may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family in care of Helen Lambert, 12607 Eagle Drive, Selma 52588.

Mrs. BLACKBURN was born April 30, 1920, in Davis County, the daughter of Albert A. and Emily E. QUIGLEY RITZ. She married Bruce Eugene BLACKBURN June 1, 1940. He died March 24, 2000.

Mrs. BLACKBURN graduated from Selma High School in 1938. She worked with her husband on their fam and operated Blackburn's Service with him for many years. They also worked together in Ottumwa before returning to operate their own business in Selma. Mrs. BLACKBURN's last few years of employment were spent working with her sister-in-law at Farmers and Traders Savings Bank in Douds. After her husband's death, she moved to Goreville, Ill., to be near her daughter.

Mrs. BLACKBURN was involved in school, church and community activities. She made biannual trips to North Carolina to visit her son until her health began to decline.

Survivors include one son, Gary BLACKBURN and wife Myra of Oak Ridge, N.C.; one daughter, Connie ROBINSON and husband Louis of Goreville, Ill.; three grandchildren; and four great-granddaughters.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Lena May HOLCOMB and Mildred Elizabeth PADGET.
