ENOS B. SHAW PASSED AWAY SUDDENLY
Eanos (sic) B SHAW, one of the oldest of Jefferson county's early settlers died suddenly last night at the home of his daughter Mrs. William WELLS, at 402 West Burlington street.
Mr. SHAW had been in poor health for several months, suffering from a complication of heart trouble and bright's disease. He was apparently feeling as well as he had been recently when he retired last night but was dead when members of hte (sic) family went to him early this morning. Death came peacefully, probably during the early hours of the morning.
Eanos B. SHAW was eighty-two years of age, having been born in Millwood, Ohio, May 29, 1831.. In 1852 he was united in marriage with Sabella McGUGIN in Howard, Ohio. Three year slater (sic) they moved to Iowa taking up farming in Iowa county. Here they lived until 1846 when they moved to Jefferson county settling on a farm north of Fairfield where they lived until the death of Mrs. SHAW which occured (sic) in 1890. Mr. SHAW later bought a farm near Independence, Kansas, where he lived for a time, but for the past dive (sic) or six years he has made his home with his children (period omitted) Of seven children born to Mr. and Mrs. SHAW two died during childhood. Those living are Mrs. William WELLS and Mrs. STEVER of this city, George SHA wof (sic) Arkansas, Mrs. Lottie HOBSON of Independence, Kas., and William SHAW of Canada.
As no word has been received from the children who wre (sic) away from here as yet, the arrangements for the funeral have not been made.
