COUPE QUARTET HURT IN CRASH
Leonard BRYAN in Hospital With Numerous Injuries

One young man is in the Jefferson county hospital with severe injuries, another is confined to his home with numerous cuts and bruises as a result of a speeding auto wreck on highway 34, seven miles west of Fairfield, about 9:30 o'clock Saturday night.

Leonard BRYAN, 23, owner of the Buick late model coupe which was wrecked, is in the hospital suffering from a dislocated hip, a wounded leg, and possible internal injuries. Frank "Dutch" Tighe is confined to his home with many severe bruises and cuts and with chest injuries which may reveal a cracked rib. Examination of the rib was impossible late yesterday due to the extreme soreness of the bruises. Margaret Bush and Wilma Craver, the two girls in the car, escaped with cuts and bruises of a less serious nature.

The car, at the time of the crash, was headed towards Ottumwa, according to those who gave aid to the passengers. The four were taken to the local hospital for first aid treatment and BRYAN was the only one advised by attending doctors to stay.

Seen at a local garage this morning the Buick coupe is a total wreck. The top, front end and left side are entirely worthless ;the motor is tilted to one side and practically all of the glass in the windows and windshield is broken. It is said that it was pointed towards Fairfield when the wrecker from Fairfield went out to bring it in.
