VAN DORIN, Viola Mae -- Viola Mae VAN DORIN, 92, of Mount Pleasant, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant.

The funeral is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Kenneth Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6-8 p.m.

Mrs. VAN DORIN was born March 28, 1918, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Pearl E. and Melissa Mae WIENKE NICHOLSON. She married Willard Eugene "Bill" VAN DORIN June 30, 1964. He died April 21, 1989.

She was raised in Salem after she moved there as a young child with her family. She attended school in Salem.

Mrs. VAN DORIN was a career nurses aide. Beginning in the 1950s, she worked at the former Mapleleaf Care Center, the Henry County Care Facility and the Mental Health Institute, all in Mount Pleasant and the Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield. She retired in the mid 1980s.

She attended the Church of the Nazarene of Mount Pleasant. She was a longtime member of the WWE Fan Club, seldom missing a show on TV. She enjoyed the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion. She loved dining out, especially for catfish and chicken at the bowling alley in Biggsville, Ill.

Survivors include three sons, Robert WALLINGFORD and his wife Ann of Perry, Ga., Wendell "Wally" WALLINGFORD and his wife Ruth of Mount Pleasant and Presley HOLMES Sr. of Bloomfield; two daughters and their husbands, Pauline and Donald ELLIS of Fairfield and Faith and Bob GUTHRIE of Mount Pleasant; three brothers, Edgar HOCKETT and Dale HOCKETT, both of Burlington, and Gilbert HOCKETT of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one sister, Barbara IRELAND of Burlington; 21 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Edward WALLINGFORD and Harry HOLMES; and one brother, Lee HOCKETT.
