OBITUARY

Died, at her home in Buchanan township, Wednesday morning, Oct. 20th, 1880, Mrs. Malinda (sic. Melinda) TEMPLETON, wife of William TEMPLETON.

Mrs. TEMPLETON was born and raised in Jefferson county. At the age of fifteen she became a member of the M. E. Church, and was an exemplary and consistent member of that church until her death. At the age of eighteen she was married to Mr. TEMPLETON, thus taking upon herself the duties of wife and mother, and well and faithfully were those duties performed. She was the mother of eight children, six of whom survive her - four boys and two girls. In early life she possessed those nobler traits of mind and character which bespoke a glorious womanhood. As a wife she was ever kind, affectionate and loving; as a mother she rearded no sacrifice on her part too great for the welfare of her darling children. Among her associates and neighbors she was held in high esteem. To the sick and afflicted she was a good angel, ever near with loving words or kind deeds to cheer them or alleviate their sufferings. Yes, her greatest pleasure was to be doing good to others.

During her brief illness, though she suffered greatly, not a word of repining or a murmur escaped her; but she died blessing and blessed by all. Her funeral, on Thursday afternoon, was largely attended - neighbors and friends from far and near came to pay the last sad rites to all that was mortal of one they loved so well.
