GRANT GALLIHER, DIED AT 9:15 THIS MORNING.

Grant GALLIHER, a well known resident of Jefferson county, died this morning at 9:15 o'clock at his home one-half-mile northeast of the city.

Mr. GALLIHER was taken ill two weeks ago today with pneumonia. Saturday he underwent a mastoid operation and this morning passed away.

Mr. GALLIHER was the son of Isaac and Elizabeth GALLIHER and was born seven miles east of this city on November 30th, 1864. For a number of years he has faithfully served as a mail carrier on one of the rural routes. He has a large circle of friends who will be grieved to learn of his untimely end. Besides his wife he is survived by the following children: J. H. of Huntington, Ind., H. A. of Silver City, Iowa, Royal V., Ivy and Mertie, all of Fairfield.

He also leaves one half-sister, Mrs. Elizabeth CAVINESS of Batavia.

Note: It appears that both Grant and his son Royal, who died in 1918, were first interred in Union cemetery in Jefferson county (where there were members of the GALLIHER ancestors buried), but were later reinterred to Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield in 3rd.075. Both obtiuaries for father and son refer to the initial burials being to Union cemetery. A notation in the Evergreen Cemetery numerical lot listing, however, uses "Zion" as the cemetery name from which Grant and an infant were removed. Not sure if the "Zion" was in reference to "Union" cemetery by mistake or what.

Admin note: Grant's wife was Margaret Jane MORRIS GALLIHER; she died in 1926 and was buried in Evergreen with him.
