MRS. D.P. STUBBS DIED SATURDAY

Funeral Services Held This Afternoon Conducted By Dr. Howard McDonald

Mrs. D. P. STUBBS (sic. husband was Daniel Parham STUBBS), for many years a resident of Fairfield and held in high esteem by our people, died late Saturday afternoon at her home at 508 East Burlington street. She had been in feeble health for a number of years, but kept her courage and spirit almost until the end. Carie HOLLINGSWORTH (sic. Caroline "Carrie" HOLLINGSWORTH) was born March 28, 1836, in Union county, near Liberty, Indiana. She was the daughter of Abijah and Achsa HOLLINGSWORTH, pioneer settlers of Indiana. In the year 1855 she was married to D. P. STUBBS and they came in 1857 to Fairfield, where Mr. STUBBS became one of the leading citizens and one of the leading lawyers of southeastern Iowa. Mr. STUBBS died in 1905. Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. STUBBS two of whom survive her - O.D. STUBBS (sic. Orsino D. STUBBS) of this city and Mrs. D.C. BRADLEY of Centerville. Mrs. Minnie THORPE and Charles E. STUBBS preceded her in death.

The funeral was held this afternoon at 4:30 oclock from the residence. The services were conducted by Dr. Howard McDonald.

This community which was the home of Mrs. STUBBS for so many years, realizes with deep sorrow that death has at last taken his brave and indomitable spirit. Her courage never yielded under the afflictions which are brought to her and which even the loving ministrations of the members of her family could only alieviate. Mrs. STUBBS was a woman of strong and loving character, active in good works in this community, a loving wife and a devoted mother and a kind and understanding friend. Her passing will be sincerely mourned by all who were brought in contact with her during the days of her activity and who held her in such high esteem.
