Stricken in Youth

Rex, a son and only child of Mr. and Mrs. O.D. STUBBS (sic. Orsino D STUBBS and Alice Nancy STUBBS STUBBS) of this city, died Thursday from peritonitis. He had been ill for about two weeks and most of the time his condition was such as to excite great alarm. His physicians finally decided that the only chance for life was through a surgical operation, which was performed Thursday afternoon, but that was without avail. Rex STUBBS was sixteen years of age and was born and reared in this city. He was a manly looking fellow, intelligent and bright, a leader and a favorite among his companions. That he should be taken away just when life was opening up so brightly for him seems peculiarly sad. Much sympathy will go out to the sorrowing family in its afflliction. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, and were conducted by Rev. Thos. Osborn of the First Methodist church.
