Transcriber note: The death record for Leo only indicated that he was to be buried in "Fairfield"; leading to some confusion as to which cemetery he was buried in. His wife and son (Balbina and Leo) are buried in SDiv1.-020 at Evergreen Cemetery; however Leo is not listed in a lot listing as being buried there with them.
Finding the death notice transcribed above from the newspaper microfilm archives at the Fairfield Public Library indicates that he was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, but also that he lived at the County Home. Burials of those residents were often made in the Evergreen Cemetery public rows set aside for such county-paid burials, often without a headstone or funeral home marker. While there were burials known to have taken place on the County Home property, the published death notice for Leo does list Evergreen Cemetery.
Although Leo had family buried in SDiv1.-020, by being a resident of the County Home at the time of his death his burial most likely took place on the grounds of the County Home; he is not buried at Evergreen Cemetery in the Public Burial Rows, or with his wife and son. The cemetery at the County Home has since been destroyed.
Records of the public row burials were not always maintained, so identification of specific rows and spaces within rows is often limited to viewing the few headstones that were later put in place. Many are buried in these rows without any headstone markers for them.
