CRAIG, Mary Irene -- Mary Irene CRAIG, 101, of Salem, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at the home of her great-nephew Gary SEPTER.
A graveside service will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Salem East Cemetery, with the Rev. Tom Palmer officiating.
Visitation will be from 2-5:30 p.m. Friday at Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.
Memorials may be made to the Crew Public Library or Lewelling Museum, both in Salem.

Ms. CRAIG was born Dec. 26, 1909, in Henry County, the daughter of Harry and Ruby PERCIVAL CRAIG.
Ms. CRAIG lived in Jefferson County a few years when she was young, but spent most of her life in Henry County. She was a school-teacher by profession, having received her master of arts degree from Iowa Wesleyan College. She taught in one-room country schools before moving on to Denmark public schools. She taught most of her years at Salem High School, teaching English, typing and home economics. She also was a sponsor for the school paper, yearbook and senior class, a girl's basketball coach and director for all the high school plays. After the Salem High School closed, Ms. CRAIG taught English at Mount Pleasant Junior High School. She had lived with her great-nephew for the past couple years.
She enjoyed sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, crossword puzzles, travel and her family. At the age of 98, she traveled to Italy with other family members to visit her great-niece and family.
Survivors include three nieces, including Norene SEPTER of Fairfield, and five great-nephews, including Gary SEPTER and wife Kelly of Fairfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Leo and Russell.
