Fred Rudolf GITTLER, 75, 1501 Southview Drive, died at 3:07 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998, at Van Buren County Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.
There will be a private family funeral service. Visitation is open until noon Tuesday at Raymond Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Fairfield Community Concert Association or the charity of the donor's choice.
GITTLER was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Nurenburg, Germany. He came to the United States in 1936, graduated from high school in 1941 in Chicago and earned his BBA degree from the University of Maryland in 1968. He enlisted in the Air Force on July 7, 1941, and served for 30 years, including tours in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iran, Taiwan and Japan. He retired from military service at San Jose, Calif., on June 22, 1970, with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant G.T. He moved to Fairfield in 1984.
He is survived by his aunt Maxine GITTLER of Fairfield and an extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; an uncle Dr. Ludwig GITTLER, and an aunt of Chicago.
