Fred FORD Dies at 83

Frederick P. FORD, 83, librarian emeritus of Parsons College, died this morning at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington. Arrangements are pending at the Raymond Funeral Home.

FORD was associated with Parsons College for more than 40 years. He joined the faculty on Jan. 6, 1931 as assistant professor of library science.

He retired as librarian in 1955 but continued to serve the college as librarian emeritus, cataloger and documents librarian until late in 1971.

He had been a resident of the Washington Home since December, 1971.

He was born Oct. 22, 1889 in Chicago, the son of Charles H. and Jennie DYSON FORD.

FORD received his BA degree from Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio. He also held a divinity degree from Chicago Theological Seminary and a library science degree from the University of Illinois. He was a teacher and minister for 21 years before coming to Parsons.

FORD was married to Barbara STANDISH April 28, 1916. She preceded her husband in death Oct. 12, 1960. He is survived by three children: Mrs. Mary Carolyn VOTER, Chadds Ford, Pa.; Hubbard FORD, Parma, Ohio; and Mrs. Katharine GREEN, Ottumwa. Nine grandchildren and one brother, Edward FORD, LaGrange, Ill., also survive.

One son, Albert, was killed in action in World War II. FORD was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church.

FORD Rites On Saturday

Last rites for Frederick P. FORD, 83, Parsons College librarian emeritus, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church.

FORD died Thursday morning at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington (note: in Washington Co., IA).

Services will be conducted by the Rev. David R. Kennedy with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of the Raymond Funeral Home.

TO ALL PERSONS INTERESTED IN THE ESTATE OF FREDERICK P. FORD, DECEASED:

YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED THAT ON THE 17TH DAY OF JULY, 1973, THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF FREDERICK P. FORD, DECEASED BEARING DATE OF THE 20TH DAY OF OCTOBER, 1960, WAS ADMITTED TO PROBATE IN THE ABOVE NAMED COURT AND THAT KATHARINE GREEN WAS APPOINTED EXECUTOR OF SAID ESTATE.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN THAT ANY ACTION TO SET ASIDE SAID WILL MUST BE BROUGHT IN THE DISTRICT COURT OF SAID COUNTY WITHIN ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF THE SECOND PUBLICATION OF THIS NOTICE, OR THEREAFTER BE FOREVER BARRED.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN THAT ALL PERSONS INDEBTED TO SAID ESTATE ARE REQUESTED TO MAKE IMMEDIATE PAYMENT TO THE UNDERSIGNED, AND CREDITORS HAVING CLAIMS AGAINST SAID ESTATE SHALL FILE THEM WITH THE CLERK OF THE ABOVE NAMED DISTRICT COURT, AS PROVIDED BY LAW, DULY AUTHENTICATED, FOR ALLOWANCE; AND UNLESS SO FILED WITHIN SIX MONTHS FROM THE SECOND PUBLICATION OF THIS NOTICE (UNLESS OTHERWISE ALLOWED OR PAID) SUCH CLAIM SHALL THEREAFTER BE FOREVER BARRED.

RKT note: Frederick and Barbara FORD were buried at Evergreen Cemetery, 4th.166. A veteran headstone for their son, 2nd Lt. Albert Standish FORD, is adjacent to their headstone but it is in his memory and honor; his remains from action over India were not recovered.
