Hollis M. WHITCANACK, 94, of Arcadia, Calif., died Oct. 15, 2009, in LaMirada, Calif. Elizabeth V. "Betty" WHITCANACK, 88, of Arcadia, Calif., died Jan. 17, 2009, in Arcadia.

A joint graveside service and burial of cremains will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Lebanon Cemetery, west of Keosauqua, with the Rev. Paul Rekward officiating.

Memorials to Lebanon Cemetery may be taken to the service or may be mailed to the family at 13018 Marlette Drive, LaMirada, CA 90638.

Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is assisting with arrangements.

Mr. WHITCANACK was born June 30, 1915, near Cantril. Mrs. WHITCANACK was born Sept. 25, 1920, near Cantril. They were married in 1940.

The WHITCANACKs spent their youths in the Cantril-Keosauqua area. Mrs. WHITCANACK graduated from Cantril High School, and Mr. WHITCANACK graduated from Keosauqua High School. They lived their married life in California.

Survivors include one son, Larry WHITCANACK and wife June of Covina, Calif.; one daughter, Hollie HIGHTOWER and husband Richard of LaMirada, Calif.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. WHITCANACK is survived by one sister, Portia SCHOVILLE of Viroqua, Wis.; one brother, Gene WELLS of Cantril; and one half-brother, Paul WELLS of Milton.

Mr. WHITCANACK was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters; a third sister Marie HUGHES died in November.
