SHAFER, Arlene -- Arlene SHAFER, 88, of Fairfield, died today, May 6, 2010, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Behner Funeral Home.

SHAFER, Arlene -- Arlene SHAFER, 88, of Fairfield, died Thursday, May 6, 2010, at SunnyBrook Living Care Center in Fairfield.

A service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Phil Barker officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

A register will be available for signing beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday at Behner Funeral Home, where family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church. Memorials and cards may be sent to 1750 Okra Blvd., Fairfield 52556.

Mrs. SHAFER was born Jan. 19, 1922, in Richland, the daughter of Roy Charles HEILMAN and Cora Ellen HAWORTH.

Mrs. SHAFER lived most of her life in Jefferson County. She was a farm homemaker on her own farm in Buchanan Township.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Carol FISH and husband Jack of Fairfield; two sons, Roy SHAFER and wife Carol and Ricky Lynn SHAFER, all of Indianola; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
