MISS JESSIE NELSON PASSED AWAY HERE SUNDAY MORNING.

Miss Hattie NELSON, the 20 years old daughter of Nels and Clara NELSON, passed away yesterday morning at nine o'clock at the Jefferson county hospital after a week's illness with pneumonia.

Miss NELSON was born in Oquawaka, Ill., on May 15th, 1897 (sic. her headstone uses 1896), and about three years ago moved to this county where she has since made her home. Besides her parents she is survived by seven brothers and sisters, as follows: Harold, Roy, Myrtle, Mildred, Hazel, Doris and Frances.

Short funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at one o'clock from the home one mile southeast of the city, and then the body will be taken to the Swedish Lutheran church, where the regular services were (sic. will be) held at two o'clock in charge of Rev. Bersell, of Ottumwa.

Many friends will sympathize with the sorrowing parents in the loss of their daughter.

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes. I am not related to the subject.

Note:
It isn't clear why the initial headline to this obituary referred to her as "Miss Jessie NELSON" but then went on to refer to her as "Miss Hattie NELSON." Her middle name is believed to be "Ellen".

Buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa in 2nd.029.
