GLENN E. LATHROP

The funeral service for former Fairfield resident Glenn E. LATHROP, 76, of Huxley, who died at 12:26 a.m. Tuesday, Arpil (sic. April) 7, 1992, in Mason City, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Fairfield Free Methodist Church, the Rev. James Haake officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Raymond Funeral Home, where a memorial has been established to Alzheimer's research.

LATHROP was born Aug. 3, 1915, in Kansas City, Mo., to Edward G. and Carrie HOUCK LATHROP. He married Deloise CAMPBELL on July 30, 1939, in Fairfield.

LATHROP was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a minister at the Bethel Free Methodist Church in Douds and served as an interim pastor in the Burlington and Oskaloosa areas. He managed the Royal Acres Mobile Home Park in Huxley until his retirement in 1982. He was educated in Davenport and Fairfield schools.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Miland of St. Paul, Minn.; two daughters, Joy BURNS of Mason City and Joanna LASOF of Houston; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Charles of Felton, Calif., Russell of Woodland, Calif., and Melvin of Ottumwa; and one sister, Margaret CALHOON of Seattle.

He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Note: Buried in Evergreen Cemetery in SDiv.2-004. His headstone is double-sided: one side is civilian with his name and dates; the other side is a veteran plaque for the U.S. Navy with his name and dates engraved.
