Fairfield Ledger
July 14, 1853
Pg. 2 Col.7- On Friday night, the 8th inst., Basheba KNIGHT, consort of D.B. KNIGHT, in the 36th year of her age.
The deceased was an affectionate wife, and a kind mother, whose virtues shone forth in a spotless example to all those around her. She was a worthy and consistent member of the M.E. Church, and in her death the church has sustained a loss that cannot easily be repaired.
Her remains were followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of weeping relatives and friends. The Lodge of the I.O. of O.F. in this place, of which fraternity her bereaved husband is a member, also turned out to attend the funeral EN MASSE.

Note: The spelling of her first name appears as Basheba in this obituary notice; it is spelled as Bathsheba in the 1894 obituary of her husband David B. KNIGHT. Her maiden name is believed to be FLOWER.
Her birth year calculated from the obituary age at death would appear to be 1817; other sources regard it as being 1820. A headstone reading done years ago interpreted the engraving to be "AGED 31y 3m 9d"; that could be subject to interpretation given the age of 36 listed in this obituary notice.
She was buried in what is now regarded as Old Fairfield City Cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa in Lot 110. Her husband, his second wife Elizabeth, and several children from both his marriages are also buried in this plot.
