Funeral services will be held here Sunday afternoon
Thomas S. WARD, 78, well-known in Fairfield and Jefferson county, died at 4:10 p.m. yesterday. He was taken to the hospital after a fall suffered last Wednesday. Mr. WARD was once in business in an electrical shop but was long a valued employee of the Iowa Electric company.
Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Hoskins Funeral home. They will be in charge of Rev. M.A. Gable. Burial wil be in Evergreen cmetery.
Mr. WARD had made friends with almost every person in Fairfield, Batavia, Birmingham, Lockridge and Libertyville through his work in almost all capacities in the gas and electrical service. He read meters and otherwise was employed a period of years with utility companies.
He was retired on a pension by the Iowa Electric company in 1934, having been hired by S.B. HOVEY to work at the gas plant in 1892.
Mr. WARD was born in Burford, Canada on February 16, 1862 (sic. 1861 is the correct year). A few years ago he returned for a short visit to Canada and he greatly enjoyed that trip.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Opal PARSONS of Fairfield and Mrs. Will BOOTH of Washington; two sons, Orin WARD and Hugh WARD of Farifield; two step-daughters, Mrs. E.G. FLIGG, Fairfield and Mrs. Dick WOOD, Denver, Colo. His wife died on September 28, 1939

Thomas was twice married to Sadie LAW WARD (1861-1888)(buried in Old.P.362); and then to Ella J KING MURDOCK WARD (1860-1939)(buried next to Thomas in Lot 2nd.033).
