Thomas S. WARD, 78, well-known in Fairfield and Jefferson county, died at 4:10 p.m. yesterday. He was taken to the hospital after a fall suffered last Wednesday. Mr. WARD was once in business in an electrical shop but was long a valued employee of the Iowa Electric company.

Mr. WARD had made friends with almost every person in Fairfield, Batavia, Birmingham, Lockridge and Libertyville through his work in almost all capacities in the gas and electrical service. He read meters and otherwise was employed a period of years with utility companies.

He was retired on a pension by the Iowa Electric company in 1934, having been hired by S.B. HOVEY to work at the gas plant in 1892.

Mr. WARD was born in Burford, Canada on February 16, 1862 (sic. 1861 is the correct year). A few years ago he returned for a short visit to Canada and he greatly enjoyed that trip.
