Stricken Very Suddenly

Dr. A.G. WARD (sic. Alfred G. WARD), the well known physician of this city, is dead. He passed away so suddenly and with so little warning that it was quite a shock to the community. While making a call at J. J. GIBSON's Sunday evening about 8:30, he was suddenly stricken with neuralgia of the heart and had to be removed to his home in a carriage a little later. Before many hours severe congestion of the lungs was developed, of which he had had slight premonitory symptoms, and he suffered the most intense pain until his death, about 7 o'clock Monday evening. Dr. Ward was a native of England, and was about 60 years of age. He had resided in this county nearly 20 years, and was the father of a large family. The funeral occurs from the Presbyterian church tomorrow at 2 o'clock. The remains will be interred with Masonic honors, and fellow physicians will act as pall bearers.

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes. I am not related to this family.

Note: Buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Old.P.362.
