William A. STEWART is Dead.
William A. STEWART, who has been a resident of Fairfield since 1855, with the exception of a few years spent in the west, died at his home in this city yesterday afternoon. He was born in Mifflin county, Penn., January 9th, 1817, and grew to maturity there. He was married to Mary M. LANG, who died in this city last year, in Huntingdon county, Penn., July 15th, 1847. They were the parents of thirteen children, five of whom are now living--Mrs. Fannie B. McCLURE of Los Angeles, Cal.; John M. STEWART, O'Neil, Neb.; Mrs. Nora LENTZ, Holyoke, Col.; Mrs. Agnes SIMPSON, Alexis, Ill.; Mrs. May FILLER in this city. Mrs. SIMPSON is the only one of the children living elsewhere who is able to be here at this time. The family came to this city April 5th, 1855. Mr. STEWART was engaged in business here for many years. He was a man of much natural ability, large hearted and generous to a fault and had many friends among older citizens of Fairfield. Funeral services will be held at the home on West Hempstead street this afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. J. F. Magill in charge.
