SEATON, Mary K. -- Mary Kathleen SEATON, 77, of Washington, Iowa, died at 4:55 a.m. today, Friday, April 2, 2010, at Halcyon House in Washington.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

SEATON, Mary Kathleen -- Mary Kathleen SEATON, 77, of Washington, Iowa, died at 4:55 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2010, at Halcyon House in Washington.

A funeral was held today at Washington Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Grant Nebel and the Rev. Diane Z. Brenneman officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery.

Memorials to Hospice of Washington County may be mailed to the family at 102 E. 13th St., Washington, IA 52353.

Gould Funeral Home of Brighton is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. SEATON was born Dec. 31, 1932, in Sigourney, the daughter of Roy S. and Velda M. HIXSON SEATON.

Ms. SEATON grew up on a farm east of Richland and attended Little Brick No. 1 country school for five years. She graduated from Richland High School in 1950 and attended Iowa Success Business School in Ottumwa before going to work for the Edmund D. Morrison Jr. Law Office in Washington. She worked there until retiring in 1997, but she continued to help with income tax preparation.

Ms. SEATON was a member of Washington YWCA and Washington Mennonite Church.

Survivors include one sister, Karen SEATON of Washington.

Her parents preceded her in death.
