REED, Eugene John -- Eugene John REED, 86, died Saturday morning, April 3, 2010, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Stephen Page and the Rev. Rich Adam officiating. Interment will be in Saint Peter and Paul Cemetery in Clear Creek.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with a memorial service at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Jefferson County Health Center to a memorial for Oda and Eugene REED, to Saint Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield for the Eugene REED fund or to Saint Peter and Paul Heritage Association.

Mr. REED was born March 19, 1924, in Ollie, the son of Sam and Mary SIEREN REED. He married Oda Violet Elizabeth ADAM Nov. 6, 1945, at Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church in Harper. She died Jan. 3, 2009.

Survivors include three sons, Tom REED and wife Linda of Athens, Ga., Dick REED and wife Kathy of Hedrick and Harry REED and wife Annette of Riverside; four daughters, Deborah HAMMES and husband Jack of Richland, Becky GREINER and husband Steve of Richland; Tena ADAM and husband Nicholas of Batavia and Mary Jo CLINGAN and husband Roger of Batavia; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one infant son, Larry; one brother, Charles REED; and four sisters, Marietta HORRAS, Marie HORRAS, Roseanna KLAUB and Helen REED.
