WILSON - At the residence of her son-in-law Dr. G.H. BLAIR, in this city, Jan. 28, 1875, Mrs. K.A. WILSON (sic. Kitty Ann BRAMBLE WILSON), aged 64 years.
The death of this estimable woman, announced above, seems to require more than a passing notice.
She was born in Chillicothe, Ohio, Nov. 16, 1810. Her maiden name was BRAMBLE, and her mother was one of the celebrated POE family, in which Adam POE, whose terrific encounter with the Indian Chief "Big Foot" is known to every school-boy, belonged. From this branch of the family she probably inherited that stoicism, endurance, and tenacity for life which enabled her to combat the fatal disease which ended her life, for a period of over twenty years.
In her eighteenth year she married Mr. David S. WILSON of Newark, Ohio, where her children, James F., David B., and Mary J. (Mrs. BLAIR) were born. At the early age of 27 she was left a widow, and remained such until the day of her death.
In 1832 (sic. date not certain due to poor microfilm scan) she joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, of which she was always thereafter a zealous, consistent and worthy member.
In 1856 she came to Fairfield to reside with her oldest son, Hon. James F. WILSON, but failing health and the solicitation of her daughter influenced her to return to Ohio, where she made her home until the removal of the latter here, in 1871.
Mrs. WILSON was in many respects a remarkable woman. She was a Christian in the fullest sense of the word, and exemplified in her daily life the promptings of a pure conscience. As a mother she took the deepest interest in the welfare of her children and grand-children, and to her was due, in a great measure, whatever of success they may have met with in life. As a friend and counselor she was ever content, kind and true. In all her long and painful illness she exhibited heroic fortitude, and in passing into the "sleep that knows no waking," she was fully prepared.
A solemn void reigns in the household where she was so lately the motherly guide, and among those who so deeply mourn her loss, some will miss her more than the writer of this brief tribute.
