THOMAS, Harry L. -- Harry L. THOMAS, 63, of Richland, died at home following an illness.

His body will be cremated.

Refreshments will be served at a gathering for family and friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Lake Darling Lodge in Lake Darling State Park. Stories and memories will be shared at the gathering.

Memorials to Arbor Day Foundation may be left at the lodge or may be mailed to the family in care of Molly Yates, 3813 Linwood Ave., Royal Oak, MI 48073.

Gould Funeral Home in Richland is assisting with arrangements.

Mr. THOMAS was born Jan. 16, 1947, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Howard G. and Lucille I. McCLURE THOMAS. He married Lyn CUDA in 1972. The couple later divorced.

Mr. THOMAS grew up in Richland, graduated from Pekin High School in 1965 and attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, Mo. He worked construction most of his life and lived in the Richland and Brighton areas.

Most recently, Mr. THOMAS' interests led him into horticulture -- working in flower shops, caring for golf course greens and helping with the renovation of Lake Darling State Park. His hobbies included flower gardening, hiking, fishing and listening to rock 'n' roll music.

Survivors include two children, Rudy THOMAS of Milwaukee, Wis., and Molly YATES and husband Jarrod of Royal Oak, Mich.; one granddaughter; and two brothers, Keith THOMAS of Winfield and Dennis THOMAS of Lincoln, Ill.
