HENDERSON, Shirley A. -- Shirley A. HENDERSON, 75, formerly of Mount Pleasant and Fairfield, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at Banner Gardens Hospice House in Mesa, Ariz.
A service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Jeff McPheron officiating. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to Henry County Animal Rescue Organization.

HENDERSN, Shirley A. -- Shirley A. HENDERSON, 75, formerly of the Mount Pleasant and Fairfield areas, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at Banner Gardens Hospice House in Mesa, Ariz.

Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the memorial chapel.

Mrs. HENDERSON was born Feb. 16, 1935, in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Gino and Nellie ROPPEL SODINI. She married Robert HENDERSON in 1966. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. HENDERSON lived in the Mount Pleasant and Fairfield areas until 1947 when her family relocated to California. She attended Iowa Wesleyan College for two years and graduated from the University of Southern California. Mrs. HENDERSON worked in the brokerage industry. Along with her mother, she returned to southeast Iowa in 1975 and became director of the Industrial Training Center in Mount Pleasant, where she worked until her recent retirement and relocation to Scottsdale, Ariz.
Mrs. HENDERSON was a longtime member of Pi Beta Phi. She was a former member of Mount Pleasant Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include numerous cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Ramona.
