McMILLAN, Dale S. -- Dale S. McMILLAN, 89, of 3000 W. Madison Ave., died at 11:55 a.m. Nov. 15, 2005, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

The funeral for Dale will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Norman Channel officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Family visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Online condolences may be sent via www.behnerfh.com.

Dale was born July 12, 1916, in Milton, the son of Charles and Effie HENRY McMILLAN. He married Martha Elizabeth DRAKE Jan. 10, 1952, in Keosauqua. She died April 6, 1974.

Dale lived in Birmingham before moving to Fairfield. He was employed in the shipping department at The Dexter Company for 24 years before his retirement. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II and the Iowa National Guard.

Dale was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Fairfield and the VFW Post 2271 in Fairfield and Fairfield Eagles Club No. 1927.

Survivors include one daughter, Diana LEAFGREEN-JONES and her husband Greg of Atlanta, Ga.; one granddaughter, Heather BRADLEY of Atlanta; two great-grandchildren Sydney and Morgan; one sister, Edith YEAGER of Columbia, Tenn.; and one brother, Neil McMILLAN of Mark, Ill.

Besides his wife, Dale was preceded in death by one son, Sherman LEAFGREEN (sic - McMILLAN?); two children in infancy, Dale Charles and Susan Marie; and one sister, Georgia DAVIS.
