HOLLANDER, Maizie Marie -- Maizie Marie HOLLANDER, 83, of 2835 Salina Rd., died at 4:19 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at the Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Marvin Robeck officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Salina Cemetery Association or the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield.

Mrs. HOLLANDER was born Dec. 17, 1921, in Fairfield, the daughter of Raymond and Pearl PETERSON BERG. She married Max E. HOLLANDER Feb. 18, 1943, in New Brunswick, N.J.

Mrs. HOLLANDER lived her entire life in Jefferson County. She grew up in the Richwoods community and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1939. She attended Burlington Business College for two years. She worked at the state hospital in Mount Pleasant and the Iowa School for the Blind in Vinton, while her husband was serving overseas during World War II. She and her husband have lived their entire married life in the Salina community. Maizie worked for the Jefferson County Department of Human Services, as a real estate agent for Erickson Realty and was a partner with her husband in their farming operation and for 50 years in Hollander Insurance Agency.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fairfield, Richwoods Willing Workers and enjoyed playing bridge and cards in several card clubs.

Surviving are her husband; two daughers Karen BUSH and husband, Mike of Ankeny and Mary Ann YOUNG and husband, Bill of Des Moines; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother Floyd BERG of Brighton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings in infancy.
